Please excuse the explicit language in this letter. I hate filters & I’m anti-establishment.

Music is something I’m madly passionate about, it’s the only universal language & my whole career as an entrepreneur I’ve been building around music, specifically but not limited to Rap/Hip-Hop. Business is also something that I love, business is life and life is business. I fuckin love building. It’s a builders life and the idea for Recording Business was birthed from both passions.

Since founding DailyRapFacts in 2014, managing Joe Trufant under my company Foredise, founding Stufinder, & now founding Recording Business, I’ve dedicated my life to the recording industry. I love the game & now I’m on a mission to create one of the most creative, insightful, no bullshit, and out of the box publications/companies ever.

What is Recording Business?

Recording Business will be/is an independent magazine, publication, and digital platform dedicated to the recording industry. Recording Business will provide data, analysis, insights, research, consultation, & solutions to the recording industry.

Recording Business will focus on all aspects & genres of music, podcasts, sound/audio, & the business of those industries as well. We will publish high quality & detailed reports on the music & podcast industry, tech news including Web3, blockchain, AI, etc, surrounding those industries, and more.

Music was first sold as just sheet music & thanks to Edison in the 19th century, we got the first sound recording. We’ve came a long way since then, from CDs in the 80s to streaming in the late 90s. I believe there will be new ways to consume music. Recording Business will do a ton of research on new & better ways to create & sell music. We plan on building innovative tech products for the recording industry & acquiring brands we love as well.

One of the many reasons I founded Stufinder is my observation of how underserved studio owners were, especially in tech. Since Napster launched in may of 1999, there has been all these streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, SoundCloud, just to name a few from the hundreds of notable streaming companies worldwide that keeps growing (the streaming industry is expected to be worth $330 billion by 2030), but I noticed there isn’t a lot of tech companies building & supporting the creation of recordings (music, podcasts, etc) from the root of the recording studio. Yes there are plenty of DAWs & applications to create music but to me those are just tools that are used in studios & a studio is wherever those tools are being used to create audio.

A studio is an artists home of creation & can be anywhere on God’s green earth, just like a church is a belivers home of worshiping God & can be anywhere on God’s green earth, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them” (Matthew 18:20). Creating music in a big professional studio has an undeniable feeling of success and invites real life collaborations. Almost every artist has a studio in their home, I believe brick and mortar studios are here to stay, there is no invention that can replace a physical studio. Recording Business will not just cover the music & podcast industry but we will also dive deep & cover recording studios around the world and the hard working studio owners as well, we won’t count them out. We are here to support the entire recording industry.

The recording industry is always changing, so will Recording Business, as we learn & grow. I’m very excited about the future of music, podcasts, & the innovating tech that will emerge and as a tech founder I’m excited to design and build more technology in those industries as well

As we all know the music industry can be evil and demonic so part of this publication’s goals is helping change that narrative by doing good, providing truth, insights, & full transparency to the recording industry.

I guess this is year 1 of our 10 years overnight success. Now the question is who is going to be on the debut cover summer 2025? We’ll see.

God bless & thanks for reading. If you want to support us please follow @recordingbusiness on IG & all social medias.
